So, you may have noticed I’ve been quiet lately. There’s a reason for that: I’ve been busy. And though I’m not sure how real it really feels, I think I’m ready to break the news as to what’s been occupying my time:
Little Dystopias will reprint 9 of my short stories and will finally allow 8 of my favorite previously unpublished stories to see the light of day. I’ve written linking essays, too, for a total of over 70,000 words.
The included stories are:
“Another Generation’s Problems”
“A Fairy Tale”
“The Folklorist’s Notebook”
“Man of Water”
“Pressure and the Argument Tree”
“The Survivors’ Menagerie”
“Too Close for Comfort”
“Ward and Protector”
and “The Wrong Dog”
Little Dystopias will be released on October 13, 2015 (6 months!) by Lightning Cellar Publications. ARCs are available, so if you’re a reviewer, book blogger, or someone whose name would look good on the cover, drop me a line and I’ll arrange for you to get a copy.
This has actually been in the works for a while now, but we delayed it because I wanted to offer “Man of Water” to Fantasy for Good, and when they accepted it I didn’t want to leave it out of the collection but I also had agreed to give them a 6-month exclusive on it. That anthology is worth picking up for other reasons, of course, and I’m hoping you’ll want to read Little Dystopias for all the stories, not just the one.
I’m very excited, and more than a little nervous. On the one hand, October 13 seems so far away, and yet, at the same time, I have no idea how we’re going to get everything done in time.
Wish me luck!
